COMBINED EXPERIENCE

We have the know-how you need

Heather Joseph

Head Trainer

Heather learned to ride ponies and horses under the watchful eye of her mother, Sharrone Peters. After her successful junior and amateur hunter career she attended Wayne State University. After years of training alongside Sharrone, she is now our head trainer and loves working with our equestrians at any level. Heather has also gained her mothers’ gift of pairing horse and rider to create a successful and competitive team. She also prides herself in a clean, safe facility to provide the best care for both the horse and rider. Heather’s dedication to Hedge and Turf and the horses is what makes her such a vital asset to our team!

Callie Doehrer

Assistant Trainer

Callie began her riding career at age 5 under the instruction of Sharrone and Heather at Hedge and Turf. She grew up riding anything she could sit on which aided her junior and amateur career. She successfully competed in the junior hunters, the big eq medals, and the amateur owners over the years. Callie attended the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and rode on the Michigan Equestrian Team, becoming the President her senior year, with many top 3 placing at Regionals and Zones. Since graduation Callie has become the assistant trainer here at Hedge and Turf. She loves bringing along riders of all levels and guiding their riding careers to success. As well as teaching lessons, Callie does our professional training rides and loves working with each horse to create the top-level horses we pride ourselves in. She is a devoted and enthusiastic trainer and looks forward to helping her students reach their goals!

Sharrone Peters

Trainer

Sharrone has been training beginner, intermediate and advanced riders for over 40 years. She has bred and trained several horse show champions and many students have qualified for national horse show finals. Sharrone has a spectacular eye for buying horses and ponies with a keen sense for matching the horse with the rider. Since her recent retirement from teaching, Sharrone spends her time between both the Hedge and Turf North (Michigan) and South (North Carolina/Florida) Farms. She still loves to have a handful of her own horses to work with and enjoy!
